FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
SPARKLEHORSE TO COLLABORATE WITH DANIEL JOHNSTON ON UPCOMING ALBUM
NEW YORK, NY – Quick to follow up his first album in seven years,
the newly released, “Rejected Unknown”, GAMMON RECORDS recording
artist DANIEL JOHNSTON is already preparing his next record.
“Fear Yourself” is the tentative title of the new album,
a collaboration between Johnston and Mark Linkous, frontman of Capitol
Records recording artist, SPARKLEHORSE.
Johnston and Linkous spent the week of September 14, 2001 at David Lowery’s
(CRACKER) Sound Of Music studios in Virginia laying down tracks for
the record that marry the like-minded qualties and distinctive styles
of the two artists.
Linkous is credited as the producer of the sessions and has layered
his own brand of strings, Melotron, and chilling backdrops around Johnston's
heart wrenching and brilliant songs.
Some tracks harken back to Johnston's earlier career with simple guitar
and piano accompaniment, while others lean more towards the Modern Lovers,
or some_large-scale, off-kilter show tune.
“Fear Yourself” represents a real leap in style for Johnston
- his latest release
“Rejected Unknown” showcases his pop oriented side - while
the joint effort with Linkous will deliver an eerie and epic sound that
is sure to stir Johnston fans, old and new.
Johnston’s latest album, “Rejected Unknown” is available
now. “Fear Yourself” is scheduled for release in mid-2002.
